History
Founded in 1969, Lithuanian Shipping Company is a recognized international leader in timber, bulk and general cargo shipping. There are three critical dates in the history of the company; in 1969 the Lithuanian Shipping Company “LISCO” was established; in 1990 the Republic of Lithuania re-gained its independence; and on the 27th June, 2001, LISCO was separated into two companies, DFDS LISCO and AB "Lietuvos Jūrų Laivininkystė" (PC Lithuanian Shipping Company). The second date has a very special meaning as this is when “LISCO” became the real owner and operator of its fleet. The company overcame the first obstacles and challenges of independent operations; furthermore, “LISCO” managed to find a niche position in the bulk and general cargo market and began to establish itself in the international shipping scene. Now, AB "Lietuvos Jūrų Laivininkystė" (PC Lithuanian Shipping Company) is a national company maintaining 11 vessels with 56.6 percent of shares owned by the Government of Lithuania and 40.5 percent by private shareholders. Our strength lies in reliability and efficiency of our fleet which is supported by professional and dedicated staff.
